Beebe Medical Center Offers Free Disease Management & Prevention Classes
Beebe Medical Center Community Health Nurse Coordinator Peggy Bixler, RN, MSN, has introduced a new, free Healthy Lifestyle Promotion & Disease Prevention education program focusing on helping adults with chronic diseases to improve their lifestyles and to manage diseases such as diabetes, heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The first series of classes, which were offered in August, were so popular that a second series of classes will begin Thursday, October 28, and continue until November 18. The classes will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. each Thursday in the Beebe Office Building located behind the hospital.
Speakers will include a dietician and an exercise physiologist. These classes are being designed to help adults improve their eating habits and to introduce more exercise in their daily lives. They also will include information about smoking cessation and safety at home. The classes are free but registration is required.
