The 7th Annual Beebe Medical Foundation Progress for Prostate Golf Tournament Takes Place July 15

"The 7th Annual Beebe Medical Foundation Progress for Prostate Charity Golf Tournament will take place at Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club on Thursday, July 15. Registration and lunch begins at 12 noon. and tee off is at 1 p.m.
This year's event is being held in memory of William D. Naughton, who passed away this past year. Mr. Naughton had been an active member of Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club for more than a decade and a supporter of the club's focus on raising money for prostate cancer awareness programs at Beebe Medical Center. Over the years, the annual event has raised more than $130,000 toward these cancer programs.
This year's prizes reflect the community's continued support of the Progress for Prostate Charity Golf Tournament. There will be prizes for the hole-in-one on every par three. Those prizes include: a car sponsored by Sherwood of Salisbury, $10,000 in cash, a choice of a Bose radio, $500 on Visa Card, Nike Sumo Driver or golf clubs all sponsored by Re/Max By The Sea Realtors. There's a putting contest with a $5,000 prize and skill prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin and the pink ball contest. There also will be a silent auction and a live auction featuring a boat trip, vacations and dinners.
Three local mayors have joined together this year in support of the annual event. They are: Tony McClenny, Mayor of Bethany Beach; Audrey Serio, Mayor of Fenwick Island; and Don Minyon, Mayor of Millville.
Registration is open to all players at $125 per individual and $500 per team of four players. Lunch, prizes, and a cart are included in the golf package. To register, call the Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club Pro Shop at (302) 539-1446, ext. 1.
The tournament is the highlight of two days of activities to be enjoyed by golfers and their families and friends. On July 14, the eve of the tournament, a reading of "Dear Hortense" a comedy written by Bob Davis, will begin at 6 pm and be held at Cripple Creek. The evening will include the play, a pasta dinner, silent auction and 50/50 raffle. The cost of this evening of fun is $25 a person.
